4 miles (11:53)

i hope a lot of lonely people don’t wander into the newsroom tomorrow. plenty depressing enough already, although we could use the body heat. i’m not above snuggling with a homeless guy when it’s below 60 in here. i ran 4 miles (11:53) on jesus etc. course  today. it goes past that statue by mel chin of a dog looking up to what would have been  its vanished master, a Karankawa Indian. Only the feet remain. it’s a sad reminder of what we’re celebrating. i’m guessing pretty much nobody who goes past it knows what it represents. and if they did, they wouldn’t care. just keep the pie coming. at least we were there that day someone gave the dog a jaunty ribbon …
